About the Program
The BUAT Curatorial Award is designed to identify and present a distinct artistic voice through a focused curatorial approach.
Rather than a traditional exhibition format, the program offers a short-format presentation, allowing for a precise and context-driven engagement with the artist’s work.

Curated Solo Presentation (10 days)
Presentation within the gallery space
- Curatorial guidance and project development
- Professional installation
- Exhibition documentation
- Inclusion in the gallery’s curatorial program

- 5 shortlisted artists
- 1 selected artist

- conceptual clarity
- artistic consistency
- coherence of the body of work

Curatorial Report — €35 (VAT included)
A written curatorial response addressing:
- positioning of the work
- coherence of the portfolio
- strengths and gaps
- development recommendations

Due to the volume of applications, only a limited number of written responses is available.

Exhibition Theme: INTERPLAY
Art as a transformative force
The INTERPLAY exhibition explores art as a living space of dialogue — between materials, ideas, bodies, and worlds. In an era defined by simultaneity and fragmentation, contemporary artists weave connections where boundaries once existed, revealing how meaning arises not in isolation, but in the dynamic exchange between forms.
INTERPLAY examines the subtle choreography of interactions: the tension between gesture and silence, structure and intuition, presence and absence. Through painting, sculpture, installation, and photography, the exhibited works reveal the invisible threads that bind the visible world — inviting viewers to experience art not as an object, but as a relationship.
Each piece becomes an active participant in a wider conversation. Lines respond to colour, textures resonate with memory, and shapes echo the spaces around them. This interplay opens new perspectives on how we perceive, how we communicate, and how we inhabit reality.
At a time when the world continually shifts and redefines itself, INTERPLAY highlights art’s capacity to bridge differences, create new harmonies, and illuminate the shared human experience. The exhibition offers a space of attentiveness — a moment to observe how connection itself becomes a transformative force.
INTERPLAY invites viewers to step into this field of relations, to trace the movements between artworks, and to discover the gentle yet powerful energy that emerges when voices, visions, and materials meet.
This Open Call is for visual artists across all disciplines: painting, sculpture and photography.
Key Details:
- Exhibition Dates: from 12 February to 15 February, 2026 (Thursday–Sunday).
- Location: BUAT FINE ART Gallery, Carrer De Sant Pere Més Alt 37, 08003 Barcelona, Spain.
- Participants: Limited to 40 artists.
- Artwork Submission: The number of works by one artist depending on their format and the volume of space reserved for the exhibition (to be agreed with the exhibition organizers).
- Accepted Media: Oil, acrylic, pastel, drawing, watercolor, and other techniques.
- Exhibition Format: Display and sale of artworks (15% gallery commission + 21% VAT on sales through the gallery).
- Participation Fee: €63/day per linear metre with a height of 2.8 m. Total: €252 for 4 days (including 21% VAT and service charges). Attention! This area can accommodate 1-2 works no more than 70 cm wide.*
- Participation Fee for a sculptor: 1 place-pedestal 40x40 cm. Total cost: €160 for 4 days (including 21% VAT and service charges).
*The participant can reserve the amount of exhibition space he needs.
Registration and Participation Terms:
1. Submit high-quality photos of your artworks for exhibition selection via email or website form.
2. Provide:
- Artist Statement.
- High-quality portrait photos of the artist.
3. Once successfully selected and confirmed by the gallery, pay for the reservation of your place. Note: Your place in the exhibition is not reserved until payment is confirmed.
4. Payment options:
- Via our website, IBAN bank transfer, credit card, or cash at the gallery.
- Submit a payment receipt to confirm your booking.
- Note: All bookings are non-refundable.
5. Deadlines:
- Artwork submission: 7-8 February, 2026.
- Registration: until February 5, 2026, or until spots are filled.
Exhibition Schedule:
- Setup: February 10-11.
- Opening: February 12.
- Dismantling: February 15, after 6:00 PM.
General Information:
- Exhibition Space: Over 145 m², professional lighting, climate control, and 3+ meter high ceilings.
- Custom Professional Lighting: Each piece is individually lit for optimal display.
